A total immersion in waltzing, the most romantic partner dance of all.

Led by Richard Powers and Angela Amarillas Held in conjunction with the June 20-25 Stanford Historical Dance Week And the June 18-20 Stanford Dance Weekend |
Stanford has two kinds of waltz weekends: large three-ring productions where participants are always split up into three different dance studios (the June 18-20
Stanford Dance Weekend), and this more
intimate arrangement where everyone is always together in the same large studio. In this format, variations can keep building upon the material taught earlier in the
weekend, since everyone has that shared information base. A nice camaraderie builds when everyone dances together for a weekend. The Stanford Waltz Weekend combines waltz technique and variations with secrets for great partnering.
The material surpasses that offered in the Dance Division's social dance classes and will include:
This is a true waltz weekend — entirely waltz. All of the sessions will be led by Richard and Angela, just as in their on-the-road waltz weekends, except with
new material for 2010.
Richard is also able to weave his histories and philosophies of dance into the short breaks when
everyone is together.
• New Cross-Step Waltz variations
• Skater's figures in Rotary and Viennese Waltz
• Viennese Waltz
• Mixed Grill of variations
• Underarm turns in Viennese and Rotary Waltz
• and more, while having a wonderful time
in the arms of great dance partners
