A total immersion in waltzing, the most romantic partner dance of all.
![]() |
Led by Richard Powers and Angela Amarillas |
The Bay Area has two kinds of waltz weekends: Large three-ring productions where participants are split up into different
dance studios (like the 2011 Santa Clara Waltz Weekend), and this more
intimate arrangement where everyone is always together on the same dance floor (like the 2010 Stanford Waltz Weekend). In this format, variations can keep building
upon the material taught earlier in the
day, since everyone has that shared information base. And a nice camaraderie builds when everyone dances together. The Waltz Weekend combines waltz technique and variations with secrets for great partnering.
The material will include:
This is a true waltz weekend — entirely waltz. All of the sessions will be led by Richard and Angela, just as in their on-the-road waltz weekends, except with
new material for 2012.
• New Cross-Step Waltz variations
• The best innovations from the Waltz Lab
• Tango and Apache inspired waltz variations
• A Mixed Grill of On-The-Fly Waltz Variations
• Lunchtime presentation on the French Apache dance,
illustrated with period photos and films.
• Evening Mostly Waltz Dance, and more, while having
a wonderful time in the arms of great dance partners
