CROSS STEP TROIKA

FOR TWO LEADS AND 1 FOLLOW

ARRANGE THIS IN ADVANCE WITH 2 PARTNERS

ÒFloating Followers:Ó dance with the one youÕre with; donÕt be looking for the next interception.

ÒHovering Leads:Ó Be ready for an opening, but also be assertive about jumping in.

All: keep Cross Step footwork regardless; the Follower never fudges feet

Do fancy stuff when youÕre dancing with the Follower, easy stuff when disengaging

Eye contact between the two Leads so as to communicate when the transfer is being made.

Give an assignment to the LeadÕs hands/arms while not dancing with the Follower

From Basics: disengage one hand to initiate transfer

1) Trading 6s: Traveling turning basic, open up on 4-5-6 to allow the other Lead to take over.  Be sure second Lead is on the inside of the circle to be ready

2) Triple Tossacross:  keep tossing down the line.  Be sure second Lead is on the inside of the circle to be ready to take her after the 4th toss

            3) Grapevine/turn: new lead enters between the partners and takes her upraised hand on 4-5-6

            4) During FollowerÕs Solo, 2nd Lead comes up behind 1st Lead and steals the Follower away

            5) Cross Pivot Pivot underarm turn to new partner

From He-Goes She-Goes:

            1) Lead goes under arms on 1-2-3, travel forward side-by side to allow second Lead to take FollowerÕs R or L hand (or both, for Shadow)

            2) Same lead-in, taking her L hand; pass behind the follower and take her R hand, return to her L taking her L hand, all the while progressing forward in Waltz Walk.

            3) Same he-goes lead-in, Frisbee the follow back on 4-5-6; she turns R/CW to meet the 2nd lead

4) LeadÕs Underarm turn on 1-2-3, travel side-by side on 4-5-6, Frisbee her to her Left on 1-2-3 to be picked up by the second lead in Shadow or closed position.

From Shadow position: Disengage FollowerÕs two hands

            1) Steal Shadow: Free lead get in front of the two who are dancing in Shadow, and pick up from there in front-to-back position.

Or from most anytime she is traveling forward, and has one or both hands free
